The Charles Dickens Primary School has a well established and successful school book fund (Lernmittelfonds – LMF) with around 90% of the children participating each year.

In Berlin the school law requires, that parents provide the school books and material for their children. The books and material become more expensive each year and many of the English books maybe difficult for parents to purchase in Germany. In addition some of the work material is only available in multi-packs.

The Berlin authorities does allow schools to organise a school book fund and the Berlin City Parent Committee (Landeselternausschuss) have specified certain conditions for such a fund. The general management and organisation of the school book fund as well as the terms of payment are decided and agreed between the school headmaster and the board of parent representatives.

The purpose of the school book fund is to provide school books and materials based on a lending system to the participating pupils of the school. A school book fund also offers many other benefits for the smooth running of the school and therefore the headmaster encourages you to participate in the Charles Dickens School Book Fund.

On this website you can download all the necessary information and the terms and conditions as well as a participation form. The book list is also available with prices shown for orientation purposes.
